Statement from the Americans Healthy Alternatives Association and David Sergi, their General Counsel, on the election of Gina Hinojosa to Texas Governor and Vikki Goodwin as Lt. Governor

“I realize you lost today, but one good thing you did was to veto Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’s hemp bill. Ultimately, he is responsible in a great part for your loss, even though you did your part for hemp.

Dear Governor Greg Abbott,

“I realize you lost today, but one good thing you did was to veto Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’s hemp bill. Ultimately, he is responsible in a great part for your loss, even though you did your part for hemp.

I am calling on you to require the Department of Health and Human Services to reverse its anti-hemp regulations and reinstate hemp as a lawful product in Texas. It is time to stop the madness.

Dan Patrick challenged the hemp industry, and it roared louder than any you have ever heard. Please get the Texas Department of State Health Services to reverse the senselessness that Dan Patrick has created.”

David K. Sergi of David K. Sergi & Associates, who serves as General Counsel for the Americans Healthy Alternatives Association, filed the lawsuit against the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and Interim Commissioner Imelda Garcia. The case is waiting for a ruling from the Travis County Court.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Texas hemp businesses —including SS Distro USA LLC, Topps Distro LLC d/b/a KingPin Kush, Jason Moreno d/b/a My City Hemp, Trevor Kocaoglan, IHC Investments, Inc., Bluestar Operations, LLC, ZAHQ, LLC d/b/a Zour Stash, and N&A Ventures d/b/a Botanic Bliss.

The American Healthy Alternatives Association is a national trade association representing the hemp-derived and healthy-alternatives industry in federal advocacy — the farmers, veterans, seniors, and small businesses who asked Congress for rules. https://www.usahaa.org
