Greek police arrested two men aged 22 and 23 in Athens on Sunday, 1 November, on suspicion of possessing and trafficking large quantities of processed cannabis, commonly known as hashish.

Officers from the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate dismantled the alleged operation following targeted investigations and the assessment of intelligence. Police seized more than 32 kilograms of processed cannabis, some of which carried the label “DRY SiFT 2026”.

Authorities believe the two suspects supplied drugs across the wider Attica region.

Police Arrest First Suspect in Kypseli

The investigation led officers to Kypseli, where they stopped the 22-year-old suspect.

Police found seven paper packages containing a total of 590 grams of processed cannabis in his possession.

The suspect allegedly resisted arrest, violently pushing officers who attempted to search him in an effort to escape.

Investigators subsequently established that he had collected the drugs from his 23-year-old accomplice just minutes before his arrest, intending to distribute them on the streets of Athens.

Police Discover Cannabis Storage Apartment on Ithomis Street

The investigation then led officers to a ground-floor apartment on Ithomis Street in Athens, which the suspects allegedly used exclusively to conceal and store drugs.

Police found the 23-year-old inside the apartment, where he reportedly acted as the custodian of the drug stash.

During the search, officers seized:

  • 31 airtight nylon packages, each containing ten paper packages of processed cannabis, with a total gross weight of approximately 32 kilograms and 320 grams.
  • One car.
  • One wristwatch.
  • Two mobile phones.
  • One precision electronic scale.
  • Fabric gloves and keys.

Police said both suspects were already known to the authorities.

Officers brought the two men before the competent public prosecutor to face charges.
